Lionsgate signs deal with AI company Runway –

If you thought Lionsgate couldn’t make a worse decision after the launch of the Borderlands movie, hold on to its beer, because it has now announced a partnership with AI company Runway to create and train a new AI model.

This model is designed to help Lionsgate Studios, its filmmakers, directors and more improve their work. It contains a lot of AI jargon that doesn’t really explain how the AI will help creators, which doesn’t support the case for it.

“We are committed to providing artists, creators and studios with the best and most powerful tools to improve their workflows and enable new ways to bring their stories to life.” said Cristóbal Valenzuela, CEO of Runway. “The history of art is the history of technology and these new models are part of our ongoing efforts to build transformative media for artistic and creative expression…. Lionsgate has an incredible creative team and a clear vision of how AI can help their work – we are excited to bring their ideas to life.”

While this new AI model is being trained, it may be some time before we see the efforts at Lionsgate come to fruition. Still, it is a big-name studio embracing the use of AI, which is sure to cause a bonfire on social media.
