KOEI TECMO launches free demo for Dynasty Warriors: Origins – That’s Gaming

KOEI TECMO Europe and developer Omega Force announced today that their tactical action game DYNASTY WARRIORS: ORIGINS is now available to pre-order for release on January 17, 2025 for PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC via Steam®. Players can experience the most intense battles ever seen in the DYNASTY WARRIORS-series experience it for yourself with the free demo now available on all platforms. In the demo, the “Battle of Sishui Gate” is playable.

From the ‘Yellow Turban Rebellion’ to the climax of the ‘Battle of Chibi,’ the story of DYNASTY WARRIORS: ORIGINS places players right in the heart of tumultuous ancient China. Players step into the shoes of an unnamed hero and must make choices to bring peace, bend history to their will, fight giant armies and navigate through the chaos of the Three Kingdoms era.

In the free demo, players can get a taste of the massive battles in DYNASTY WARRIORS: ORIGINS with the “Battle of Sishui Gate,” where Dong Zhuo’s armies have seized power and now face Yuan Shao’s coalition forces. Alongside legendary characters from the Three Kingdoms such as Cao Cao, Sun Jian and Liu Bei, players slash through huge numbers of enemies and fight powerful generals on the battlefield. In the demo, players can choose from four of the game’s nine weapon types; Sword, Pudao and Wheels. They can also customize Battle Arts, gems and accessories.

In addition to information about pre-orders and the demo, KOEI TECMO Europe also revealed new details about the game’s story. The main character, a martial artist with amnesia, travels through the world of the Three Kingdoms. He is accompanied by a little boy named Yuanhua, who wants to help the protagonist bring back his memories. Two mysterious figures with connections to the protagonist’s past also appear and play an important role in the story. Players control the protagonist and are slowly immersed in the world of the Three Kingdoms, where they are introduced to characters who accompany them on their journey. Throughout the epic story, fans will develop a bond with the heroes of this chaotic time, sometimes with resounding swords. Through various choices and struggles, they will eventually arrive at the “Battle of Chibi,” a key moment in the first half of the Three Kingdoms story.

Anyone who pre-orders the physical or digital version before Jan. 30, 2025 will receive the Soundtrack Collection for free as a bonus, featuring music from previous volumes in the series.
