Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has announced the release or reduction of sentence of more than 2,000 prisoners in Iran, on the occasion of the Islamic holidays of Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Ghadir.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has granted pardon and reduction of sentences to a total of 2,272 Iranian prisoners, based on the request of the head of the Iranian judiciary, Gholam Husein Moseni, as reported by the Kurdish news agency Rudaw.
The Iranian leader grants several collective graces every year on the occasion of major religious or national holidays on the proposal of the head of the judiciary authority.
