Is Twitter building an electronic wallet?

Twitter has not publicly announced the existence of such a product, and it is not known where Jane Manchun Wong got this information. However, Wong’s statements suggest that she finds most of her information in publicly available code.

Twitter has introduced various other crypto-currency-related features over the past year. In September 2021, it introduced crypto-currency tips. In November 2021, it began integrating web3 dApps. In January this year, it started allowing users to add NFTs as profile pictures.

In addition, Elon Musk briefly considered using crypto micropayments to limit spam transactions during his pending acquisition of Twitter. More recent developments suggest that this idea may no longer be under consideration.

Today’s news also comes shortly after news of Twitter’s decentralized social networking platform, BlueSky. The project announced the launch of a beta application on Tuesday.

While BlueSky may appeal to the crypto community’s values around decentralization, BlueSky head Jay Graber stressed that BlueSky will not have cryptographic features:”I am confident in our decision not to put social media content on a blockchain“, she wrote on October 20.

As such, it appears that today’s report is likely to be related to Twitter’s current cryptographic features, not to developments underway at Elon Musk or BlueSky.
