In Japan you can build a tiny shelf with servers – however, you have to earn the parts

In Germany we know chewing gum machines, for Japanese these are camels. Gachapon machines can be found there on every street corner.

These are machines from which you can pull down -sized figures for small money, either from popular franchises such as Dragon Ball or One Piece – or bizarre things like animals or small replicas of food.

So you can pull your own network rack, including servers of different brandsif you find the corresponding machine.

You can see what this looks like on Minimachines, the mastodon account by Karl Baron or in this Reddit thread:

Here is the »Specs« of the network rack:

  • A total of 105 millimeters high
  • Size ratio: 1/12
  • Serverblades are only a few millimeters thick.
  • The Blades are re -modeled, including from Dell, Cisco or Furakawa Electric.
  • You can assemble them, take it apart and connect the various elements.
  • You can also pull Ethernet ports, cables, cooling systems, fans and other accessories.

However, you have to get all the parts out of the machine individually – And that’s a gambling.

To be allowed to turn the machine on the rotary button, you pay 500 yen, which corresponds to around 3 euros. By the way, on the US ebay, the whole rack is offered for sale for over $ 111 (approx. 102 euros).

Of course you can’t use the server rack; It serves exclusively to collect and put it (maybe on a real rack?). Electronics are not in it.

Assassin’s Creed will also take you to Japan from March 20th:

Would you pull the network rack out of the machine?

In Japan, passion for collectors is very important. Therefore, there are gachapon in all possible flavors: manga and anime, films and series, food, animals, mascot, (fake) clothing or art.

We are interested in whether you would rotate for the small server shelf on the toy machine.

Japan always amazes with new technology. Managed mechas are much more real than she believes, and a German company has created Godzilla out of dirt in the country of the rising sun.

Gacapon machines are available millions of times in Japan, often even in temple systems or in the wild.

The name “Gachapon” is made up of sounds that make the machines: “Gacha” describes the sound of the handle when boosting it. “Pon” makes the round plastic capsule when it falls into the shaft.
