Iceland’s Prime Minister confirms her positive for coronavirus

MADRID, Feb. 12 (Royals Blue) –

The Icelandic Prime Minister, Katrin Jakobsdottir, confirmed this Saturday that she has contracted the coronavirus as a result of a family outbreak, also affected.

“My youngest son tested positive for COVID-19 on February 1. Since then, another member of our household has also contracted the virus, so it will not be too surprising that I also contracted it this past night,” he said on his page. Facebook.

The 46-year-old prime minister will self-isolate at home for at least five days, in line with national recommendations.

Iceland has averaged more than 2,000 daily cases in the last four days, a record for this country. However, hospitalizations have remained stable throughout this time.

With a population of 370,000 inhabitants, Iceland has registered a total of 85,980 cases and 54 deaths linked to the Covid-19 pandemic, according to the latest figures published this Friday.
