At the World Car Awards, Ioniq 5 also won the title of World Electric Vehicle of the Year and World Car Design of the Year, winning three awards in six categories.

The World Car Awards are decided by a jury of 102 jurors, car journalists from 33 countries. They are among the most prestigious car awards in the world, along with the North American car of the year and the European car of the year awards.

The Ioniq 5 overtook the first all-electric EV6 from Kia and the Ford Mustang Mach-E, which were also finalists for the World Car of the Year overall award from an initial list of 28 vehicles.
