Colombian journalists Leiner Montero and Dilia Contreras were shot dead early this morning in the department of Magdalena, in the north of the country, official sources have confirmed to Caracol Radio, in an incident still under investigation.
The mayor of the municipality of Fundación, Carlos Sierra, confirmed that the communicators were at the patron saint festivities in the town of Santa Rosa de Lima.
After leaving the party, they were intercepted by two subjects on a motorcycle who shot at them repeatedly.
Montero was the director of the radio station Sol Digital Stereo and had shortly before his death been involved in an argument with an individual in the middle of a party, although it is not known if the two incidents are related.
