Galaxy Xcover Pro 2 should not be very expensive, by Samsung standards, the phone comes with a mid-range chipset and older generation LCD screen.
Illustrated with images generated based on CAD drawings allegedly obtained from Samsung accessory manufacturers, Xcover Pro 2 would come with a spacious 6.56-inch screen, which is somewhat alarmingly framed by a fairly wide frame and “chin” at bottom, suggesting that the phone will have appreciable dimensions. The presence of a “drop” cut-out around the front camera indicates the use of an LCD screen with older technology, but if this is a Samsung panel, the image quality should not suffer.
As it is a rugged phone, the use of a capacitive fingerprint sensor is welcome, as the on-screen implementations work less well in humid and dirty conditions. At the same time, positioning on the side frame is a popular choice, which helps with ergonomics.
According to the sketches provided, Galaxy Xcover Pro 2 would have dimensions of 169.5 x 81.1 x 10.1 mm.
This will be the first Galaxy Xcover model that also offers 5G connectivity, delivered with a Snapdragon 778G or Exynos 1280 chipset. Other strengths, such as the removable battery and the 3.5mm jack headphone output remain current.
Galaxy Xcover Pro 2 could arrive in store offerings earlier this summer, the earliest, equipped with Android 12 version.
