U.S. authorities said Sunday that four people were killed Saturday when a sheriff’s office helicopter crashed near Las Vegas, New Mexico.
On board the aircraft were three employees of the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office and a fire department worker, as reported by U.S. network CNN.
“These personnel were on their way back to Albuquerque after assisting fire crews on a fire in East Mesa,” the sheriff’s office has explained.
The National Transportation Safety Board has assured that it is investigating the accident along with the Federal Aviation Administration.
For her part, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has sent her condolences to the families of the deceased on behalf of the people of New Mexico.
