Electric ID. GTI teases exciting EV hot-hatchback future -.

Volkswagen is one of the most committed carmakers when it comes to the electric vehicle space. The auto giant has promised to be Europe’s largest EV manufacturer by 2027, with a fleet of 11 all-new electric cars, and in the process of achieving this goal, Volkswagen has now pulled back the curtain on the ID. GTI Concept, a car that teases what the sporty EV future could look like.

The car is said to be a sporty version of the ID.7, and the production version will be based on Volkswagen’s modular electric drive platform and with plans to debut on the road in 2027.

Thomas Schäfer, CEO of the Volkswagen brand, talked about the ID. GTI GTI stated, “With the ID. GTI Concept we take the GTI DNA into the electric age. It remains sporty, iconic, technologically advanced and accessible, but now with a new interpretation for tomorrow’s world: electric, fully connected and highly emotional. Here, driving pleasure and sustainability are a perfect match. This means that GTI has a future – for our brand and for its fans. A Volkswagen sports car for the electric age suitable for everyday driving: 100 percent electric – 100 percent emotion.”

Volkswagen has also promised to produce only electric cars in Europe by 2033 and will continue to lean on hybridizing its current lineup leading up to this goal.
