Electronic Arts Inc. and UFC, the world’s leading mixed martial arts organization and part of TKO Group Holdings, today released EA SPORTS UFC 5 worldwide on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The debut on the Frostbite Engine marks a first in franchise history, with the game offering detailed fighter likenesses and seamless 60 frames per second performance.
Damage in UFC 5 is rendered in visceral detail with accuracy true to the sport. With more than 64,000 possible facial damage combinations, new fluid physics and blood and sweat particle systems, a fighter’s appearance changes throughout the fight. Thanks to the Authentic Damage feature of the Real Impact System, causing a cut to an opponent’s eye will reduce their accuracy in punching and blocking due to obstructed vision, and causing an injury to the calf will hinder mobility. In UFC 5, players enter the world-famous Octagon® with added strategic depth and realism in mixed martial arts (MMA).
“UFC 5 has the most advanced features we’ve ever seen in a combat sports title, and EA has taken every aspect of this game to the next level,” said Tracey Bleczinski, SVP of Global Consumer Products at UFC. “With each new iteration of the EA SPORTS UFC franchise, our goal is to create a fun and entertaining game that offers greater realism and a deeper, more immersive UFC experience. EA SPORTS has once again set the standard for combat sports games and with UFC 5 has delivered the best version of the game to date.”
“The energy of our passionate fans and our partnership with the UFC have helped us achieve cutting-edge MMA gameplay for the next generation,” said Nate McDonald, Lead Producer of UFC 5. “Frostbite and the Real Impact System are gamechangers, and combined with the introductions of Cinematic K.O. Replay, Seamless Submissions and a real-world inspired Fight Week experience, UFC 5 is as real as it gets.”
