Indie studio Fully Bugged is working hard on Dstroy 2, a modern successor to the 1995 MS-DOS game of the same name. The 2D pixel-art bombermania will be released on Steam in 2026, but those who can’t wait can try the free demo now.
The game leans heavily on the Bomberman DNA: fast-paced action, bomb placement, mazes full of traps and power-ups, and especially lots of chaos. The full version gets three main modes, including a Adventure Mode which can be played solo or in co-op and again adds real story-driven progression to the series. That mode is not yet in the demo, but will be a premium package that also includes achievements, Steam cards and full Remote Play support.
For now, the demo mostly revolves around the Tournament Modes, in which you dive into the arena with two to four players. There are three variants. Classic, with random bonuses and maluses. Roots, a pure skills-only experience with no frills. And Paint, in which you use bombs to turn as much of the arena into your color as possible. All Tournament modes support AI bots, useful if you want to practice solo or don’t have a full group.
In addition, there is a Survival Mode, both solo and co-op. You try to survive as long as possible in an ever-shrinking world full of lava, with random layouts and only one life. The plan is for Tournament and Survival to remain free in the final release, while Adventure is the paid expansion.
Dstroy 2 aims to combine the charm of classic bomb mountain games with modern speed, variety and replayability. The demo is free to download and players are encouraged to give their feedback as the game grows toward release.
