It’s hard to believe for fans of the original, but Dragon’s Dogma 2 is coming out in less than three months. Considering that the first game was released in 2012 for the Xbox 360 and PS3 before coming to the Xbox One, PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch, it’s been a long wait.
Director Hideaki Itsuno acknowledged this in the latest issue of Play Magazine, saying he wanted to work on the sequel immediately after the original was released. “I really wanted to be able to make a sequel right after the release of the first game, so sorry for making everyone wait so long,” he said.
“I’m so grateful to see so many fans appreciate the quality of the game and have supported it all these years. Having the support of fans – both inside Capcom and outside – is definitely something that has helped push the project toward realization.” Itsuno also noted that the team had “multi-day sessions” with ideas for the sequel, with the best ideas emerging late at night.
