Celo Foundation announces partnership with Google Cloud

Google Cloud will provide credits for the use of its services at developers who build on the Celo blockchain network.

Last night, the Celo Foundation announced the start of a new collaboration with the cloud branch of the American giant Google.

This alliance aims to support startups in the Celo network focused on sustainability and help them evolve their applications. To wit cLabsthe company behind the Celo project, had already been using the Google Cloud infrastructure for several years.

From now on, the cloud computing platform will offer ” credits “but also ” advice ” to builders who build on the Celo blockchain.

Developers will also get access to the hosting and application development service Firebase proposed by Google.

Google Cloud is focused on enabling the next wave of innovation in Web3, so we’re excited to extend our partnership with Celo to offer Google Cloud credits and guidance to their builder community,” said Richard Widmann, head of Web3 strategy at Google Cloud.

Last year, Google Cloud has set up a dedicated Web3 team and partnered with pioneer Coinbase. Earlier this year, the GAFAM cloud unit became a validator on Tezos.

Launched in 2020 and backed by a16z and Coinbase, Celo is based on a proof-of-stake mechanism and presents itself as a carbon-negative, mobile-friendly and EVM-compatible blockchain network.

Following the announcement released late Tuesday, the price of the project’s native token, CELO, recorded an increase of more than 10% and exceeded 0.74 dollars. At the time of publishing this article, the price of the cryptocurrency, which is now worth about 350 million dollars, is moving around 0.72 dollars, still up about 9%.
