The British Museum has fired an employee after discovering that a number of artifacts had disappeared. These pieces were mostly gold, jewelry and gems dating back to the 15th century.
The staff member is being investigated by police and security at the museum has been tightened. “This is a highly unusual incident, says director Hartwig Fischer. Scotland Yard claims the investigation is ongoing and no arrests have yet been made.
Despite this being a very serious matter to some, others have found the lighter side. The British Museum consists largely of artifacts from around the world, some of which were stolen during the time of the British Empire, so to see items again without permission feels like karma.
Thanks, Sky.
