The current president of the NBA 2K League, Brendan Donohue, will step down from his position on October 31.. The League has not disclosed the reasons for the departure.but has mentioned that he will assist in the League’s transition to new leadership.
Donohue is a veteran in the world of digital and real basketball. Prior to being named President of the 2k League, served as Senior Vice President of Team Marketing and Business Operations for the NBA.. In addition, held various positions with NBA teams such as the Atlanta Hawks, Detroit Pistons and Milwaukee Bucks.
On the other hand, Donohue has worked in the NBA 2K League since its inception in 2017first as general manager and then as president. During his tenure, the league saw top NBA teams join, thus increasing from 17 to a total of 25 teams. The 2K League also signed as partners companies of the stature of Champion, SAP and Googleand recorded consistent audience figures.
At this time, the 2K League has not shared any plans for Donohue’s replacement or possible plans for new leadership, but the current President, still serving until October 31, will help with the transition, as a new one must succeed him before then.
It has been an incredible privilege to lead NBA 2K League and witness its evolution over these past six years. Working and engaging with talented teammates, the best NBA 2K players in the world and a growing community of passionate fans has been a very rewarding experience. I am proud of what we have accomplished together and look forward to my next challenge in the sports industry.
