Bitpanda adds Ethereum to its staking offer

The Austrian crypto fintech now allows its customers to staker from ethers and generate rewards. Bitpanda unveiled a staking offer last year.

The Viennese platform Bitpanda announced this Thursday the arrival of the cryptocurrency Ethereum (ETH) in its staking offer.

The wait is finally over. After completing its planned transition to Proof of Stake, known as the Shanghai upgrade, Ethereum is now available for staking on Bitpanda, bringing the total number of staking assets to 28 coins,” Bitpanda wrote in a blog post.

Last month, the Ethereum blockchain was updating Shapella (Shanghai) allowing validators to remove ETH placed in staking.

Launched in the spring of 2022, Bitpanda Staking can now generate up to 5% yields (APY) by staking ethers, according to the announcement, which states that APY may vary depending on market conditions.

Bitpanda adds that there is now a “short period” of locking and that the service is only accessible via its web platform for the moment.

“We plan to make ETH staking available on the mobile app and remove the lock-in period after June “, concludes the company, which was raising $263 million in Series C in the summer of 2021.
