Biden to attend Elizabeth II memorial service

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, will attend on behalf of his country the state funeral that will pay tribute to the late Queen of England, Elizabeth II, for which there is still no official convocation.

“Yes, I don’t know the details yet but I will go,” Biden said in response to questions from reporters. The president will therefore lead the American delegation sent to this symbolic event, which shows the importance that Washington attaches to the death of who reigned for seven decades.

Biden on Thursday expressed his condolences on the passing of Elizabeth II, noting that “in a world of constant change, she was a steadfast presence and a source of reassurance and pride for generations.” She was, in his opinion, “more than a monarch” and her work over more than seven decades “has defined an era.”
