MADRID, 24 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
At least four people have died and 30 have been rescued after four boats carrying migrants sank off the coast of Tunisia, in the city of Sfax, while trying to cross the Mediterranean to reach Italy.
Likewise, three other people have been transferred to the emergency room of the Jbeniana regional hospital to receive the necessary treatment, as reported by the Tunisian Maritime Guard on Diwan FM radio on Saturday.
The country’s authorities have assured that the search continues to find the rest of the disappeared, and have confessed that it is possible that the number of deceased will increase, according to Kapitalis FM.
Tunisian authorities thwart migration attempts to Europe’s shores on a daily basis, and hundreds of migrants from Tunisia and other African countries are intercepted and detained for this purpose.
