With more than 1,500 attendees during the weekend of July 5th and 6th, the Asian Weekend has consolidated itself as the most important geek, gamer and Asian culture event in the south of the country. Organized by a team of passionate youngsters –Héctor Guevara, Camila Álvarez, César Henao, María Ayala y Cristhian Zamora-The festival managed to position itself as a regional reference by successfully combining video game tournaments, K-pop competitions, cosplay and a vibrant atmosphere full of color, community and culture.
The event reached its climax on Sunday, when the World Cosplay Summit (WCS) elimination round.the cosplay catwalk and the K-pop contestThe activities brought together entire families and fans of all ages, mostly young people between the ages of 8 and 35. One of the greatest achievements was to become a trend in the main local mediawhere Asian Weekend and its sponsors were widely recognized.
Among the most notable milestones was also the. XPG Gamer Arenaa technological experience that attracted a significant number of visitors. In addition, it was proudly celebrated that the winning K-pop groups will travel in December to Quito, Ecuador, representing Asian Weekend and the region. It was also made official that Asian Weekend will be present at SOFA Bogota 2025, where the winning couple of the World Cosplay Summit (WCS Colombia), Ana Lucia Cuasquer and Andres Palacios, will compete representing Nariño in search of a place in the world finals in Nagoya, Japan.
As part of this participation, Asian Weekend will have an official booth at SOFA, along with its sponsors, bringing a sample of the best of geek, gamer and Asian culture of Nariño. In addition, the organizing team is currently looking for new allied brands that wish to join this experience, expand its national reach and connect with a passionate and growing community.
With an eye on the future, Asian Weekend plans to grow in infrastructure, scope and experience, making its way as a platform that promotes art, creativity, video games and alternative culture in Nariño and the country.
