Apple could announce Mac Mini with M2 and Mac Mini “tower” today

According to a listing on one of the largest online photo equipment stores, the Mac Mini with M2 processor could be one of the surprises that Apple could reveal at tonight’s WWDC 2022 conference. This could be the first upgrade of this series of computers in the last two years, the current model, with M1 processor, being presented in the fall of 2020, along with the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models with M1.

Mac Mini could be Apple’s first computer with M2 processor

B&H Photo is one of the most popular photo equipment stores in the world. However, it also sells other electronic devices, or even computers, that can be used in photography or video. Apple computers are popular with content creators, and the Mac Mini with M1 is already used by many who edit photos or videos.

The listing mentions two new Mac Mini models. One of them is the Mac Mini with M2 processor and 8 + 256 GB configuration, which could replace the current model. This model is not expected with design changes compared to what we already know. In fact, the Mac Mini has an unchanged design for about 10 years.

However, the second model is called Mac Mini Tower and seems to be a new version, probably a bigger one. Apple recently announced Mac Studio, a kind of “Mac Mini on steroids”, with M1 Pro, M1 Max and M1 Ultra processors. The new Mac Mini Tower could be a more “modest” and more affordable version of Studio, as it is listed on B&H Photo with M1 Pro processor. That processor may need more cooling, and its case may be larger, somewhere between Mac Mini and Mac Studio.

Although the WWDC presentation was expected to be strictly for software, it seems that Apple could also bring a series of hardware products to the stage.
