After Netflix managed to win subscribers after the streamer introduced ads and higher subscription fees, it seems other streaming platforms are looking to take a slice of the profit pie.
Amazon recently introduced its own subscription with ads, but this has led to a lawsuit from customers, who claim it was misleading for Prime Video to charge users fees after advertising Prime Video as ad-free.
“Subscribers now have to pay extra to get something they have already paid for.” reads a court document filed against Amazon. Given the precedent set by other streamers, it’s unlikely anything will come of this, and as always, it’s best to vote with your wallet.
