A strong earthquake shakes the Pacific coast of Nicaragua

MADRID, 21 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

An earthquake of magnitude 6.8 on the Richter scale has shaken areas of Nicaragua on the Pacific coast this Thursday morning, with no immediate evidence of significant personal or material damage.

The earthquake took place about 70 kilometers from Pochomil and, according to the vice president, Rosario Murillo, it was felt along the entire coast. Murillo has located the hypocenter at a depth of 10 kilometers, although the United States Geological Survey (USGS) raises the figure to 25 kilometers and lowers the magnitude to 6.7.
