Greece will eliminate the obligation of the mask and the vaccination certificate

MADRID, 14 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Greek authorities plan to abolish the mandatory use of the mask in certain facilities and the requirement to present the vaccination certificate against COVID-19 or a negative test to enter shops.

The Greek Minister of Health, Thanos Plevris, has stressed that the relaxation of the restrictions is in accordance with “the epidemiological data” and the recommendations of the experts.

Specifically, the requirement of the certificate, negative tests or proof of having overcome the disease to access outdoor and indoor facilities will be abolished between May 1 and August 31. Between these dates, businesses will also be able to recover the capacity of one hundred percent of their facilities.

In addition, the mask will only be mandatory on public transport from June 1. However, the health authorities have yet to issue a series of exceptions, such as nursing homes.

In any case, the authorities will evaluate the epidemiological situation in Greece on September 1, to find out if it is necessary to reintroduce some of the restrictions, according to the newspaper ‘Kathimerini’.

So far, Greek health authorities have counted more than 3.2 million infections, while more than 28,300 people have died from COVID-19 in the country since the pandemic began.
