Samsung announces Galaxy M53 5G, an A53 with higher battery and lower hardware

With some delay, the larger battery version of the Galaxy S53 has been officially announced, first for emerging markets in the Asian region.

Galaxy M53 5G replaces last year’s M52 model, considered one of the most balanced average mobile devices on the market. The design has not changed much, with the phone only changing the triple-camera system arranged vertically with a quad.

Other differences include the change of the 6.5 ”AMOLED screen to a 6.7-inch one, but keeping the Full HD + resolution and the refresh rate at 120 Hz unchanged. The screen comes protected under a Gorilla Glass 5 shield and assisted by a 32MP front camera, applied through the perforation process.

Instead of the Snapdragon 778G 5G solution on the Galaxy S53, we find MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G, a less expensive chipset, helped with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, in the basic equipment. According to the official set of specifications, there do not seem to be other options for RAM capacity and internal storage, users are left to deal with the microSD slot, which supports capacities up to 1TB.

The photo options start with a 108MP main camera, assisted by an 8MP ultra-wide camera and two more cameras of 2MP each, serving the Macro and DoF function.

Galaxy M53 comes with Android 12 version (in interpretation One UI 4.1) and is supported with a 5000mAh battery, with fast charging support up to 25W power. The list of features is completed with a 3.5mm jack headphone output.

Compared to the Galaxy A52, the M52 changes the frosted-glass look finish to something less elegant, with Samsung opting for a textured model with vertical lines and a glossy finish.
