“We are super focused on the continuous improvement of energy efficiency for Lightning, and the team is truly happy to deliver these results to our customers.” Linda Zhang, chief software engineer at F-150 Lightning, said in a statement.
An expected update
The 520-kilometer range that Lightning will have will eventually catch up with the 530-kilometer range that benefits from the Hummer Edition 1 pickup from rival General Motors, which was put up for sale at the end of last year.
At the same time, the new data manages to exceed the range of 500 kilometers currently offered by the most efficient R1T pickup from Rivian. However, Rivian is planning a version of the Max battery pack that can reach an estimated range of up to 650 kilometers, but that configuration has been pushed to 2023.
Ford is set to begin shipping Lightning in the coming weeks. He capped reservations for about 200,000 vehicles, although directors did not say how many of the reservations were converted into orders.
