Ukraine.-Lukashenko again denies the presence of Belarus in the war in Ukraine: “We have nothing to do there”

The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has again denied this Tuesday the involvement of Minsk in the war in Ukraine, assuring that “he has nothing to do there”.

“We have nothing to do there and we have not been invited,” said the president, who has also guaranteed that Minsk will not “get involved” in the Russian invasion of Ukraine. “There is no need for it,” he has riveted, according to the Belarusian news agency BelTA.

Lukashenko has been accused of participating in the invasion of Ukraine and, consequently, Belarus has also been sanctioned within the framework of the sanctions packages adopted by the allies in retaliation for the military offensive.

On Friday, during a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, in Moscow, he considered that within “six months, by the end of the year, people will forget” about the conflict in Ukraine. He also said that if Putin had not started the invasion, the Ukrainian army “would have attacked” the Russian and Belarusian troops while they were conducting joint exercises.

At the same time, he indicated that the current “is a moment of opportunity” that offers Minsk and Moscow the possibility of “reorienting themselves” in the economic field. He also stated that Belarus and Russia can “do without” the allies, because they have “everything necessary to live and work normally.”
