What are the prejudices against VR: Too expensive, requires an expensive PC, the cable is annoying, you are completely isolated from the outside world and much more. But what if I told you that none of these arguments are valid anymore?

Act quickly: the price of the Meta Quest 3S won’t be this low for a long time

Even if the more expensive Meta Quest 3, the one without S, received more attention and the Meta Quest 3S is viewed as a slimmed-down model, the differences are not that big. They are primarily related to the memory and the lenses.

One of the few differences to Meta Quest 3 are the Fresnel lenses, which you can easily recognize by their cut with grooves reminiscent of records. The Quest 3’s image is a little sharper.

And why should that be interesting, you ask? Now it gets fun: If you don’t have any experience with VR, it’s actually not interesting, the image quality of a Meta Quest 3S will most likely seem very, very good to you.

Only when you have taken a close look at Quest 3 will you be able to see the clearer picture of the pancake lenses. What I mean to say is: Yes, there is a difference and it is visible – but only if you know a reference for a better picture.

We are already aware that Valve has taken a different approach with the Steam Frame than Meta with the Quest 3 series. Steam is primarily about streaming content that a PC or the Steam Machine calculates.

The matching controllers are of course also included with the Quest 3S for 229 euros. Just like you get 3 months of the Horizon+ meta game subscription at the start – practical!

Applications can also be run directly on the glasses, but there will likely be few native Steam Frame games for SteamOS at launch.

Meta presents the new Quest 3S, the price is aimed at beginners

In terms of pure technology, the Steam Frame headset isn’t much better than the Meta Quest 3S: Valve uses a slightly faster ARM processor and more RAM. We don’t know the price of the Steam Frame yet, but it should be noticeably higher than the 229 euros that MediaMarkt is currently charging for the Quest 3S.

Certainly not many people realized that one of the more important arguments for Meta Quest glasses will be that they are perfect for staying fit. But it’s true: the immersive VR content provides intrinsic motivation to do good for the body. Because it is presented in a playful way, rather than as the seriousness of life.

What, you don’t feel like moving? Also ok: The Meta Quest 3S is also great for watching films. In VR you see a gigantic TV and, if you use apps like Bigscreen, even your friends and a bucket of popcorn.

The Valve Steam Frame is also an exciting VR headset, but it will not be able to handle mixed reality as well as the Meta Quest 3(S).
