POCO launches X4 Pro 5G, a cheaper alternative to the Redmi Note 11 Pro

POCO, the brand that broke away from Xiaomi a few years ago, has announced a new mid-range with an impressive price for what the phone has to offer in terms of hardware. It’s called POCO X4 Pro 5G and benefits from many of the capabilities that other manufacturers offer at significantly higher prices. Of course, the secret of the low price is a balance between performance and compromise. Also, the new phone seems to be based on the same hardware platform as Remi Note 11 Pro 5G, so it does not offer much new hardware.

From the beginning, POCO phones were budget models with high specifications. However, in 2022 it is difficult to come up with high-end hardware at very low prices, so the X4 Pro 5G model is rather trying to offer an average experience, with small flashes in the high-end area.

The POCO X4 Pro and M4 Pro models compete directly with the Redmi Note 11 series

We have a smartphone equipped with a 6.67 ”Full HD + screen with AMOLED panel and 120 Hz refresh rate, protected by Gorilla Glass 5 from Corning. It is based on a Snapdragon 695 processor, not exactly a model from the high-performance range, but which should provide a good user experience in most scenarios. By the way, unless you’re editing videos or you want to play 3D games with very high detail, most of the processors available on the market should be enough.

Along with this processor we have 6 or 8 GB LPDDR4X RAM, up to 256 GB storage on UFS 2.2 format and a triple camera system. Of course, as is often the case in this price range, we have a more powerful main camera with 108 megapixel sensor, along with an ultra-wide 8-megapixel camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera.

Where this model could stand out is in terms of autonomy and fast charging. With a 5,000 mAh battery that benefits from 67W charging, this could be the phone that makes you forget what it means to completely discharge your battery. Charging from 0% to 100% is done in 40 minutes, but most users never charge the phone from 0%, so most charges could be in less than 30 minutes.

As we have seen on Xiaomi phones, POCO X4 Pro 5G also comes with an infrared port for controlling non-smart appliances, as well as a fingerprint sensor in the power button, but also a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The launch of POCO X4 Pro 5G will take place tomorrow, March 2, at a starting price of 269 euros for the 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage variant. The higher version 8 + 256 GB will cost 319 euros. Along with the POCO X4 Pro, the company also introduced the POCO M4 Pro, based on the Redmi Note 11S configuration, with a smaller screen, 90 Hz refresh rate and a MediaTek G96 processor. That will start at 199 euros and reach 249 euros for the 8 + 256GB version.
