MADRID, Feb. 21 (Royals Blue) –
An earthquake of magnitude 5.6 on the Richter scale has shaken New Zealand on Monday afternoon near the city of Blenheim, in the Marlborough region, on the South Island.
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 30 km, as reported by the government seismic monitor Geonet, as reported by 7News.
So far, no material damage or injuries have been reported.
New Zealand, on the so-called Pacific “Ring of Fire”, often experiences high seismic activity and earthquakes and volcanic eruptions occur regularly.
