SpongeBob and Patrick became vtubers for the Super Bowl –

SpongeBob and Patrick may not be the first names you think of when you hear “sports commentary,” but the two sea dwellers gave it their all during last night’s Nickelodeon broadcast of the Super Bowl.
If you looked at the CGI versions of SpongeBob and Patrick and feared they were AI, don’t worry, because Tom Kenny and Bill Fagerbakke dressed up in mocap suits and stuck iPhones on their heads to become CGI versions of their characters for the broadcast.

The fact that the couple managed to stay in character for the Super Bowl is incredibly impressive, and viewers already want this to become an annual tradition. Sandy Cheeks was also present during the broadcast, but Octo was unfortunately stuck in line for the bathroom.
