Freddie Mercury’s piano sold at auction for £1.7 million -.

The Yamaha baby grand piano that Queen’s Freddie Mercury used to compose some of the iconic band’s most famous songs has now sold at auction for a record price considering what composers’ pianos usually go for.

According to the BBC, Mercury’s piano went for a lower-than-expected £1.7 million, which was enough to top the charts. The piano was used by the singer to write the songs such as Bohemian Rhapsody, which the handwritten lyrics for that same song itself managed to fetch a very impressive £1.38 million.

This was all part of an auction by Mary Austin, who was reportedly one of Mercury’s oldest friends, where the auctions also saw several other Mercury and Queen memorabilia on the trading block, such as onyx and diamond Cartier ring gift from Sir Elton John, a silver snake bracelet worn during the Bohemian Rhapsody music video, and even the door to his Garden Lodge home in London.
