DreamHackan organizer of e-sports festivals and tournaments, has appointed Guy Blomberg Director of Events for the Americas region.. Blomberg joins the ESL-owned brand FACEIT Group after almost two years at Stride PR, an agency specializing in the video game industry, as well as Vice President of Business Development.
As Dreamhack’s Director of Events, Blomberg will oversee the brand in the region as it prepares to unveil the 2024 event calendar. The U.S. calendar already includes events in Dallas (Texas) and Atlanta (Georgia), the latter for December 2023.
Blomberg has a very extensive resume on the video game and live event industry. He has been director of events such as E3, PAX, Comic-Con and EGX.. It has also been Board member of the International Game Developers Association (IGDA). for more than a year.
DreamHack Atlanta will feature a series of esports tournaments, including the. Call of Duty Mobile World Championshipin which teams will compete for a prize to be shared of $1M. In addition there will be several competitions of fighting video games and the ESL CS:GO Challenger. 2023 has been a busy year for DreamHack, the festival made its debut in San Diego, as well as hosting a Halo Invitational and IEM at its Dallas event in June 2023.
DreamHack is such an established and beloved brand, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to take the reins of their North American festivals. I have an amazing team, full of crazy ideas, to grow these events into more meaningful experiential gatherings, and I’m looking forward to it.
