Insect farming may not be the solution to the climate crisis we think it is -.

We are now constantly aware of our impact on the environment, and scientists are thinking of new ways we can reduce that impact. One such way we can combat climate change is by relying on insect farming for our food.

As Wired recently discovered, however, there may be a small problem with that. As trillions of insects are bred each year to be turned into tasty treats, more research has been done to see if there is an ethical problem with this.

It turns out that we may face a real moral dilemma if we find out that insects can feel pain and suffer. If this is the case, insect farming may be as ethically flawed as raising chickens, pigs and fish for food.

Whether this will stop insect farming completely is unknown, but it would likely cause scientists looking for a solution to the world’s food crisis to look elsewhere.
