Exynos 2400, Samsung’s upcoming chipset for flagship phones, ready with 10 processing cores

Apparently, Samsung’s decision to select a Qualcomm chipset for all Galaxy S23 versions is just a temporary “compromise”. Secretly, the South Koreans are already preparing Exynos 2400, a chipset with superior performance to Apple’s A16 Bionic alternative.

Although, the A16 Bionic is already released, the comparison to the Exynos 2400 solution anticipated for next year is still valid, Since no other player in the Android camp has so far managed to match the performance of the current generation of Apple phones.

According to Ice Universe, a popular source of rumors on unreleased Samsung products, the Exynos 2400 is already being tested and optimized in the South Korean labs, with the company exceptionally choosing to devote much more time and resources to perfecting it. Most likely made using the 3-nanometer manufacturing process, the chipset is expected with a completely reworked microarchitecture and CPU with no less than 10 processing cores. According to as yet unconfirmed information through official channels, the configuration is 1x Cortex-X4 + 2x Cortex-A720 (increased frequencies) + 3x Cortex-A720 (optimized for efficiency) + 4x Cortex-520 (processing background tasks).

For now, it’s not certain that the Exynos 2400 will be a true high-end chipset, or one of the solutions reserved for mid-range phones. What is certain is that the specifications listed seem to indicate the former.

Another variant would be for the Exynos 2400 to debut as early as this summer, with Samsung already making a tradition of introducing new Exynos models along with foldable phones launched over the summer. Simply put, Samsung could redirect consumer attention to the design of the new Galaxy Fold models, sneaking in the new Exynos chipset more as an experiment, later deciding the way forward for the Galaxy S24.
