Lenovo announces Tab Extreme, a tablet with 14.5-inch screen and detachable keyboard

Intended as a laptop replacement, or perhaps iPad Pro alternative, the Lenovo Tab Extreme is one of the largest Android tablets ever released.

Equipped with stereo speakers optimized by JBL specialists and a 14.5-inch OLED screen, the Tab Extreme could be a great companion for watching movies and even some more serious activities, with the detachable keyboard functioning as a laptop replacement.

The 3000×1876 pixel resolution screen and 120Hz refresh rate is only good for movies and web browsing, with the configuration based on the Dimensity 9000 chipset and 12GB RAM reminiscent of last generation’s high-end phones. Unfortunately, 5G connectivity and extra features like DisplayPort output for connecting an external monitor might not be enough to justify the $1,200 price tag, at which level you can buy a higher-performance laptop that’s more practical to use.

But for those drawn more to superior portability and the prospect of a big-screen Android 13 experience, the Tab Extreme might be an option to consider. Lenovo promises up to 12 hours of video playback time, achieved with a 12300mAh battery. The list of features is rounded out with a 13MP camera and 5MP front-facing camera, two USB-C ports, 256GB internal storage and microSD slot for expansion, as well as a pair of microphones with background noise cancellation. As a bonus, Lenovo also provides an app called Freestyle, which is responsible for adapting the Android 13 interface for a Windows-style user experience.
