Chinese customs officials caught a woman trying to smuggle 202 Intel processors and nine Apple phones into China from Macau.
The devices were glued to the woman’s middle and covered with a fake pregnant belly, reports TechSpot.
Macau is a special administrative region of Beijing, and electronic devices are cheaper there than in mainland China.
The young woman was caught at the border with the city of Zhuhai in Guangdong Province. She may have managed to enter the country with the devices, but customs officials noticed that she was acting suspiciously and did not appear to be pregnant.
When she was removed from the queue, the young woman was asked what month she was pregnant. She replied that in the sixth, although the false belly suggested that the pregnancy was almost over.
From the images the processors appear to be 12th (Alder Lake) or 11th (Rocket Lake) generation. As for Apple’s smartphones, they appear to be iPhone X or iPhone XS models.
The value of the customs seizure was estimated at around $100,000.
Such situations are quite common at border crossings in China. In March, also in Zhuhai, a man was apprehended trying to smuggle 160 CPUs and 16 foldable smartphones into China.
Also in 2017, a woman from Hong Kong attempted to smuggle 102 iPhones and 15 luxury watches into the Asian state, which she had glued to her body.
