Xiaomi has confirmed the Xiaomi 13 release date for December 1, with the new flagship expected to be available to buyers in China first. As usual, Xiaomi will hold a separate launch event for the version of the phone aimed at Western markets.
Designed around the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, the Xiaomi 13 comes with an impressive level of performance, with the phone achieving 1497 points in Geekbench single-core test and 5089 points in the multi-core test, enough to go straight to the top of the best performing smartphones on the market. The phone tested appears to be equipped with 12GB of RAM, but it’s unclear if this is a base model, or if it’s a higher-end configuration.
Although, the invite distributed by Xiaomi only highlights a few aspects of the new design, teaser images based on unofficial renders have been circulating online for some time. Attributed to the Xiaomi 13 Pro the unofficial renders show a design with much more rounded shapes than suggested by the official launch teaser. So either Xiaomi has thought of a substantially different design for the non-Pro version of the phone, or the circular images so far are not the correct ones.
As for the hardware, the preliminary specs list mentions the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset for both versions of the phone. Thus, the Pro model might differ in terms of larger screen and battery, respectively, the main camera with 1-inch sensor.
