Samsung prepares to launch Galaxy Tab S8 FE, a mid-range tablet with stylus

Samsung’s initiative to launch “Fan Edition” devices hasn’t exactly lived up to fan expectations. So far, the company has only released two such devices, and for the S22 series it may not release a new “FE” model. However, those who are looking for a high-performance tablet at a more affordable price might be in luck, as rumors claim that Samsung is working on a Galaxy Tab S8 FE.

Galaxy Tab S8 FE will adopt a MediaTek chipset

Roland Quandt of WinFuture, reports that the Galaxy Tab S8 FE will ship in the near future and will offer a quality user experience. It will be equipped with an LCD screen, just like the “standard” Tab S8, but will adopt a larger screen, just like the Galaxy Tab S8+. It will also benefit from S-Pen support and use a digitizer from Wacom, suggesting it will be especially good for those who need a tablet for drawing.

The hardware will get a “downgrade” from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 to a MediaTek Kompanio 900T chipset, a high-performance model, but not flagship-level. It integrates two high-performance Cortex-A78 and six efficient Cortex-A55 cores (2.6 GHz/2.0 GHz) and a Mali-G68 MC4 GPU. There will also be 5G models, with the MediaTek chipset equipped with such a modem.

Galaxy Tab S8 FE (that’s the actual name) SM-X506B has an LCD, Wacom digitizer = great pen experience, and carries the codename “Birdie”, so that Geekbench result from September should totally be real.

The Galaxy Tab S8 FE has already appeared on GeekBench, where it was revealed that the tablet will ship with 4GB of RAM, just like the Galaxy S7 FE, but also running Android 13 with the OneUI 5.0 interface. The hardware compromises over the “standard” version should come with a lower price at the shelf. The Galaxy S7 FE was launched at a price 100 euros lower than the Tab S8.
