Elon Musk asks his Twitter followers to vote for Republicans in the U.S. midterm elections

Tesla CEO and new Twitter owner Elon Musk urged his 114 million followers to vote for a Republican-led Congress on Tuesday.

The Biden administration and Democrats have come under fire from Elon Musk for their plans to tax millionaires and offer additional tax breaks for union-made electric vehicles. Tesla’s U.S. manufacturing plants are not yet unionized.

To independent-minded voters:

Republicans are expected to win a majority in the House of Representatives in Tuesday’s elections, while neutral election experts have given the Senate a toss-up.

They could use a majority in either chamber to block Biden’s legislative efforts and launch investigations into his family and administration, which could create strong divisions.

Musk also wrote:

“Democrats or hardcore Republicans never vote for the other side, so independent voters are the ones who actually decide who is in charge!”

However, Musk later clarified that historically, his party affiliation was independent, with an actual voting history that was entirely Democratic until this year.

On November 8, the United States will vote in one of the most competitive elections ever for the Senate and House of Congress.
