The miniseries that dethroned Monster – The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, on Netflix. Also coming from Ryan Murphy, it promises to break new records

After 21 consecutive days on Netflix’s most-watched TV series chart, Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story managed to drop to #2 in mid-October.

The miniseries that sent audiences into a tizzy was overtaken by The Watcher. Interestingly, both of these limited series, which tell true crime stories, come from Ryan Murphy. So, it can be said that this is a case that can be translated into the following maxim: “The king is dead, long live the king!”.

Basically, all this awesomeness comes after Ryan Murphy signed a super deal with Netflix.

Ryan Murphy looks unstoppable: new limited series breaks previous record

After the roster change he made for the Hollywood and Halston series at the start of Murphy’s deal with Netflix (Ratched and The Politician were pre-existing and not necessarily part of that deal), the extremely talented producer has taken some time to prep his second batch of hit series.

To add to the suspense, Netflix executives have been giving details along the way about the upcoming Dahmer and The Watcher, both co-created by Murphy and Ian Brennan, and have pointed out that the projects look great, bearing Murphy’s unmistakable signature.

Earlier this week, Dahmer became the second most popular English-language series of all time, behind the fourth season of Stranger Things, with 701.37 million hours watched in just two weeks.

The limited series telling the story of the serial killer, starring Evan Peters, effectively tore Netflix in two, but here it has been dethroned.

Based on a true story, the thriller The Watcher stars Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale. Murphy is also producing Mr. Harrigan’s Phone, based on a story by Stephen King, which ranked #2 on Netflix last week.
