Pixel 7 Pro performance confirmed with benchmark results released ahead of official launch

Expected for release in the near future, the Pro version of the Pixel 7 series has already appeared in an unofficial Unboxing Video, and now gets a new round of benchmark results, showing the level of performance offered by the Tensor G2 chipset.

Without trying to compete with high-end solutions developed by Qualcomm, Samsung, or MediaTek, Google was content to develop the new Tensor G2 chipset as an incremental upgrade to the previous model, improving aspects relevant to Google such as AI processing and power efficiency, but banking on Android optimizations delivering the most seamless user experience possible. Related to AI processing, the new chipset is expected to offer major improvements on the photo/video performance side as well.

So the performance of the most advanced Pixel phone will be at most on par with a phone with Snapdragon 888 or 888+, last year’s high-end chipset.

Compared to other benchmarks that appeared last month we see slightly improved performance, indicating the use of better optimized firmware or increased frequencies for the G2 chipset, both signaling the approach of the launch event.

Google will launch the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro series in October, with pricing expected to be on par with the Pixel 6 series, $599 for the “standard” model and $899 for the Pro version.
