How long the iPhone 14 battery lasts compared to the iPhone 13 and Galaxy S22

The iPhone 14 has hit store shelves, and from there to users who were quick to publish their first battery life tests, challenging Apple’s published estimates.

Coming on the heels of ambiguous promises made by Apple, the first spec-based data on the actual capacity of installed batteries suggested only minuscule increases in range, with it remaining to be seen if greater advances can be delivered by more power-efficient hardware.

Fortunately, fan expectations weren’t completely dashed, with Apple managing to keep the range shown in the iPhone 14 VS iPhone 13, iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max comparisons respectively:

So while last year’s iPhone 13 Pro Max managed to deliver 9 hours and 52 minutes of battery life, the iPhone 14 Pro Max delivers 9 hours and 31 minutes of battery life when using a higher performance chipset.

Possibly conducted with a different testing method, the comparison between the iPhone 13 Pro Max and the Galaxy S22 Ultra alternative revealed a battery life of 10 hours and 27 minutes VS 8 hours and 8 minutes for the Samsung phone. By extrapolation, we can estimate that the difference between the 14 Pro Max and the S22 Ultra is somewhat smaller, but consistently in favour of the Apple model.
