Police reinforces surveillance of judges and prosecutors involved in Cristina Fernandez trial

Argentine police will reinforce surveillance of judges and prosecutors involved in the open trial for alleged fraud against Argentina’s vice president, Cristina Fernández, after threats and calls to follow the officials were posted on social networks.

The measure has been requested by the president of the Supreme Court, Horacio Rosatti, who alludes to the “greater media exposure”, according to the newspaper ‘La Nación’. The case has generated division in Argentina, since for Fernandez it is all part of a political and judicial “persecution” against her.

The prosecution has requested that the vice-president be sentenced to twelve years in prison and disqualified for life from holding public office for an alleged corrupt scheme in Santa Cruz.

After this request, formulated on Monday, there have been successive mobilizations in support of the former president, also this Tuesday, when Fernandez has addressed the citizens from her office in the Senate.
