Mexican authorities intercept nearly 700 migrants in two operations in the center of the country

Mexican authorities announced late last Saturday the interception of 688 migrants of different nationalities in two operations carried out in the state of Puebla, in the center of the country, including 150 minors.

The National Migration Institute has added that at least four people have been detained for their “probable responsibility in the crime of human trafficking.”

Of the migrants, 514 were from Guatemala, 79 from Honduras, 40 from Nicaragua, 37 from El Salvador, 15 from Cuba and three from El Salvador, according to the INM.

A total of 567 of them were in a hotel-parador, while another 121 were intercepted on a bus traveling on the Orizaba-Puebla highway, the agency added on its Twitter account.
