What the new Zenfone 9 looks like on the inside. VIDEO

The Asus Zenfone 9 appears disassembled down to the last component, showing the pros and cons of Asus’ latest model.

Despite the compact design, the Zenfone 9 is by no means a modest phone, with manufacturer Asus trying to hit most of the essentials, with some compromises on the battery capacity side.

The device comes with the most powerful chipset available in the Android “world”, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. The phone can be ordered with up to 16 GB of RAM, has very good cameras and battery life beyond expectations. Such a combination is rare on phones with a compact size and a screen smaller than 6″.

Despite its relatively modest dimensions (146.5 x 68.1 x 9.1 mm and weight 169 grams), the Zenfone 9 comes with most of its components slotted into “normal” size for a smartphone released in 2022. But the performance level seems to say otherwise. So where are the compromises.

Like many modern phones, the Zenfone 9 makes some compromises to facilitate the latest features, such as the use of a plastic-finished casing and other less noticeable details aimed at how it’s assembled. Thus, the generous use of glue and the way the manufacturer seems to make it difficult to access and replace the screen lead to an overall score of 4.5/10 possible points.
