Although out of the smartphone maker ranks, LG could launch a new tablet model

LG announced its exit from the smartphone market over a year ago, but the new Ultra Tab model shows that the manufacturer’s aspirations weren’t abandoned at that point.

Only in the meantime, LG has launched new accessories for smartphone users, and even a new smartphone model, explaining that it was put into development even before the exit announcement and is only now being finalised. In the meantime, LG’s activity seems to increasingly confirm the hypothesis of a temporary exit, as the company’s interest in this highly profitable niche market seems far from exhausted.

So it is that in addition to wireless headsets there are signs that LG will also launch a high-end tablet, based on Android 12. It will be called the LG Ultra Tab and could come as a showcase for the South Koreans’ hardware and innovation capabilities, reminding consumers that LG is not just any brand.

According to as-yet-unofficially-confirmed rumors, this will be a tablet with a 10.35-inch screen and 2K resolution, most likely entering the mid-range Android tablet niche, possibly outperforming some models shipping only with FHD+ screen. On the hardware side expectations aren’t very high, with the LG Ultra Tab expected to come with the Snapdragon 680 chipset, helped with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. Thus, performance limitations will be hidden by the large battery construction (7040 mAh) and superior cooling capabilities of a regular smartphone.

The list of features would be completed with an 8MP main camera, 5MP front camera, headphone output and fast charging function (25W via USB-C connector). In exchange for a price of $327 we could also get a MIL-STD-810G certified case, guaranteeing protection against water ingress, dust, as well as small accidental bumps.
