At least two Palestinians killed and nine wounded in Israeli forces operation in Nablus

Two people were killed and nine others were shot and wounded, one of them seriously, on Saturday in an Israeli Army operation in the northern West Bank city of Nablus.

The head of the Palestinian Red Crescent ambulance service, Ahmed Yibril, said early Sunday that one of the victims was seriously wounded in the head, Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.

In the early hours of the morning, the Israel Defense Forces have reported that they were conducting an “operation” in the town of Nablus, which was resulting in an “exchange of fire between gunmen and operatives.”

For their part, no injuries to Israeli troops have been reported, according to ‘The Times of Israel’ newspaper.

The purpose of the operation has not been clarified by the Israeli Armed Forces, but reports picked up by ‘The Jerusalem Post’ indicate that the target may be a leader of the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade.

The Israeli agents’ target would be Ibrahim al-Nablusi, the sole survivor “of a terrorist cell annihilated in February.” However, the aforementioned media reported that this target had escaped.
