Russia denies suffering “global isolation” for its military offensive against Ukraine

Russian authorities have rejected on Tuesday that the country is suffering a “global isolation” because of its military offensive against Ukraine and said that the United States “self-hypnotizes” with this type of assessments on the situation arising from the conflict, triggered on February 24.

The Russian Embassy in the United States has indicated in a message on its Telegram account that the State Department’s claims about Moscow’s alleged “isolation” “are nothing more than an attempt to give wings to wishful thinking” and added that “even in the West, they are increasingly talking about the lack of alternatives to dialogue with Russia when it comes to solving global problems.”

“The Russian leadership is actively involved in international processes and is in constant contact with the leaders of most of the world’s countries,” he stressed, before also ruling out that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was “isolated” during the recent G20 foreign ministers’ meeting in Indonesia.

Thus, he has argued that these claims are “pure fiction” and recalled that Lavrov “held a number of productive meetings with colleagues from other countries.” “Instead of recognizing the impossibility of ‘canceling’ Russia, they prefer to entertain illusions. We see in this a desire to convince US citizens of the justifications of the anti-Russian path and illegitimate Western sanctions, which generate great costs to those who imposed them,” he has zanelled.

The war in Ukraine broke out on February 24 following the invasion order signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who days earlier had recognized the independence of the self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk and Lugansk (east), the scene of an armed conflict since 2014.
